Youth Action Project grants are eligible for youth organizations and individuals. The goal of such projects is to encourage youth to take action within their communities to better mitigate climate challenges, foster climate change discussion, and education, and provide young people with the necessary resources to fill the gaps of climate adaptation in their communities. Action projects should be youth-led and community-based and empower youth ages 13-23 to develop climate solutions.

Apprenticeship USA has two upcoming opportunities: Join the Agriculture Industry Registered Apprenticeship Community of Practice (CoP) meeting April 9 at 2 p.m. ET. Participate in the Inaugural Youth Apprenticeship Week from May 5-11 and learn about the benefits of Registered Apprenticeship program for youth, ages 16-24. The Environmental Protection Agency recently released Educating Youth About Wasted Food and the EPA Wasted Food Scale in additional languages.

The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation donates orchards to community gardens, public schools, city/state parks, low-income neighborhoods, and hunger relief sites. The organization provides high-quality fruit trees and shrubs, equipment, on-site orchard design expertise and oversight, horticultural workshops, and aftercare training and manuals. Nonprofits, NGOs, public schools, or government entities may apply. At least 15-20 trees must be planted. Recipients must own the planting site, have a long-term lease, or work with a nonprofit/government entity that owns the planting site with a long-term usage agreement.

Hawaii Island Chef Challenge is hosting a keiki video submission contest for children between 12-17 years old. Videos should be one minute or less and include their name, where they’re from, and what they enjoy cooking. Finalists will be judged by celebrity chefs, and keiki and chefs will partner up to create a health and innovative meal.

Community and educational groups who will freely share the harvest or save seed for other in need are eligibly to apply. Salad Bars to Schools Grant

This program provides schools and districts with salad bar support, technical assistance and equipment such as Cambro bars and camchillers. Any district or independent school participating in the National School Lunch Program is eligible to apply.
